Here in Lausanne the thermometer shows -4 degrees this morning. My grandmother, a long time ago, said me that a lady never exit without her gloves.

There is an etiquette just for gloves:

A lady does not remove the gloves to shake hands with a man
A lady could remove her gloves to greet another lady
A gentlemen must remove his gloves to shake always
Do not kiss the gloved hand

To the ancient Egyptians it was a symbol of prestige. It seems that a pair of gloves was found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun (note: Wikipedia). You can find the glove's history on this website. Today these rules are forgotten rules and the use of gloves is not an indication of rank but only a means to combat the cold. And I'm crazy for the gloves. I have a lot of gloves and I'd buy them everytime I see a beautiful pair. I like wool gloves, leather gloves, silk gloves, with fur, with fleece...as you want.

One of my favorite glove's brand is Sermoneta. They have shops in Milan, Rome and Florence, London, Moscow, New York... They sell also online, but only few models unfortunately. The gloves are made by hand. If you are a real "fashion addicted", you must have it!

Oggi a Losanna fa davvero freddo. Il termometro segnava questa mattina -4 gradi. La mia nonna diceva che una signora non esce mai senza guanti, tanto meno con questo freddo. Certo, ai suoi tempi era una questione di stile, mentre oggi li usiamo come accessorio e per proteggerci dal freddo. Ma comunque sia, c'è un bon ton per l'uso dei guanti che anche oggi sarebbe bene conoscere; riassumiamolo:

Una signora non si toglie mai i guanti per dare la mano a un uomo
Una signora toglie il guanto per salutare un'altra signora (in segno di rispetto)
Un signore deve sempre togliere i guanti per salutare chiunque
Non si bacia la mano guantata

Per gli antichi Egizi i guanti erano un segno di prestigio. Sembra addirittura che siano stati trovati nella tomba del faraone Tutankhamun (figurati se si è fatto mancare qualcosa, per forza che la sua tomba era grande quanto il Mall of America). Oggi purtroppo le regole del bon ton sono cadute in disuso e i guanti non indicano più alcuno status (in questo senso, abbiamo invece fatto un passo avanti). Servono solo a combattere il freddo. Io nutro una passione sfrenata per i guanti e ne comprerei continuamente; li regalerei pure, ma sembra di fare un regalo da nonna. Peccato, perchè a me invece piace riceverli, sappiatelo :-)

I don't remember if into the last post on skiwear I told you, but one of the better gloves brand for skiing, in my opinion, is the italian brand Restelli. I have one pair of them for ten years and they look new.
Non mi ricordo più se nel post dedicato allo skiwear ve l'ho detto ma uno dei migliori guanti da sci è quello prodotto dallo storico brand Restelli. Io ne posseggo un paio da oltre 10 anni e sembrano nuovi.
